Augmented Reality

Is the metaverse dead already?

No!

If the concept seems overhyped, especially since the breakthrough of ChatGPT, it would be unwise to think that the metaverse, this virtual digital world parallel to ours, is dead.

As proof, the arrival last summer of the new Apple Vision Pro headset and Meta's Quest 3 headset this fall, which experts believe could bring a significant change in how users experience the metaverse.

Why?

Because unlike the virtual reality headsets currently on the market, which offer total immersion in an entirely digital world, these two new headsets have the ability to overlay applications onto the real world. This allows users to interact with digital content in a way that makes it feel physically present in their space.

Users and developers could thus move away from the absolute isolation of virtual reality. This technology allows users to immerse themselves in a 3D environment in which they can usually move around, enabling them to participate in experiences that are impossible to reproduce in reality.

Virtual reality is one of many technologies, alongside augmented reality, AI, cryptocurrencies, the Internet of Things, blockchain, 3D modeling and reconstruction, that underpin the metaverse!
